The Irishman streaming: Can I watch the full movie online? Is it legal?

The Irishman is the latest film from Martin Scorsese, starring some of his favourite frequent collaborators. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are back together, as well as De Niro and his Heat co-star Al Pacino. The group have not been seen together before, but the results have set critics and fans’ pulses racing.

Can I watch the full movie of The Irishman online?

The Irishman had a limited release in cinemas, with only a small number of screenings showing the film.

For many, even those living in larger cities, it was pretty difficult to get to a screening of The Irishman, and now most cinemas are no longer showing it.

As a result, many fans will be desperate to see the movie, but given its incredibly long running time of around three and a half hours, they may prefer to settle in at home for the movie rather than being forced to miss sections when they need a break.

With this being said, some fans may want to turn to a streaming service to watch their soon-to-be favourite film at home.

But is it legal to stream The Irishman?

Luckily, for those who have Netflix, it can be completely legal to stream The Irishman, as the film has been released on Netflix already.

However, any other website claiming to have the film for streaming or download is illegal.

The Digital Economy Act 2017 means people could now face ten-year prison sentences for illegally streaming copyrighted content.

To be sure you’re not watching copyrighted material, you should go direct to Netflix to watch The Irishman on the only official streaming platform which hosts it.

This may be the perfect option for some, as the film is as long as a three-part miniseries.

The film is a staggering three and a half hours long, meaning tea and toilet breaks are likely a necessity.

Therefore, having access to the film at home makes life so much simpler, as fans can just pause to grab a snack before continuing the shocking adventures of Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran.

It is also worth saying that parents who fear their children watching something inappropriate, like The Irishman, can put parental controls on Netflix to ensure their kids cannot tune in to the film if they are under age.

What is the age rating for The Irishman?

According to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) the certificate for The Irishman is a 15.

This means those under 15 are not permitted to see the film in cinemas, or on Netflix, though this can be harder to check if children know how to get around the parental lock.

As a result, it is important for parents to make sure their parental control details are completely private, or they may wish to watch the film with their 15 year olds to make sure they can monitor what is being seen.

What is The Irishman about?

The Irishman follows Frank Sheeran (played by Robert De Niro,) a Philadelphia truck driver who becomes involved in the mob and union politics.

In the film, based on a book which claims to include alleged confessions from Sheeran himself, Sheeran becomes closely involved with union boss Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino) who went missing in July 1975 and was never found.

As well as Hoffa, Sheeran is also involved with known gangsters Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci) and Angelo Bruno (Harvey Keitel.)
