Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Spent Thanksgiving In The United States, Claims Royal Insider

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have laid relatively low since finishing their royal tour of Southern Africa and they are currently in the middle of a six-week break. The parents of Archie Harrison didn’t publicize their Thanksgiving plans, but since it is an American holiday, the royal family doesn’t have any traditions like they do at Christmas when the family gathers with the Queen at Sandringham. Now that the holiday has passed, a royal insider claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent the day “celebrating with close family” on a “long-time trip to the US.”

Royal correspondent Omid Scobie said on The HeirPod podcast that the Sussexes were in the States for the holiday. And, even though that hasn’t been confirmed, the speculation in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving was that Meghan and Harry would spend the holiday in Los Angeles with her mom, Doria Ragland.

“The Sussexes are away, they’re on their break right up until Christmas. They celebrated Thanksgiving privately with close family, which is lovely,” said Scobie. “It’s a long-time trip that they’re on, I think we are really going to see them away until Christmas as far as I’m aware, which is good for them.”

There is also the possibility that the couple spent the holiday in Canada, as they added a maple leaf emoji to the caption of their “Happy Thanksgiving” post on Instagram.

ITV News royal producer Lizzie Robinson said there is no doubt that Meghan and Harry aren’t in the UK, and that is why they weren’t part of the reception this week for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. Omid said that Harry and Meghan “welcomed the break” after a busy year of travel, philanthropy, controversy, and becoming parents for the first time.

If Harry and Meghan did make the trip to California for Thanksgiving, it would be Archie’s first trip to his mom’s hometown. And, there’s even the possibility Markle did the holiday cooking. Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl recently revealed that the former Suits actress “loves being in the kitchen,” and she’s a “talented chef” who wouldn’t need any help from staff on preparing the holiday feast.

According to The Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan have already informed Queen Elizabeth that they will not be in Sandringham this month with the rest of the royal family. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not revealed where they will be celebrating Archie’s first Christmas.
