Emma Watson: Harry Potter actress looks very different in new Pirelli calendar shoot

New pictures released today show English actress Emma Watson as you’ve never seen her before.

The 29-year-old movie star, who is best-known for her portrayal of school girl Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, was asked to present her interpretation of Shakespeare’s Juliet for the 2020 Pirelli Calendar.

Fellow actresses Claire Foy and Kristen Stewart also showcased their version of the female protagonists from Shakespearean drama Romeo and Juliet, for the incredible photoshoot entitled Looking for Juliet.

Emma dressed in an all-white ensemble for the photoshoot with Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, 72.

Drawing inspiration from the 16th century, the era in which the play was written, Emma wears a white headdress like the starched linen ones of the period.

She teams her headgear with an almost bridal strapless dress and adds drama to her look with matching shirt-like sleeves.

The award-winning actress sports minimal make-up in the theatrical pictures and completes her look with a single pair of hooped earrings.

The photographer chose nine personalities, from different cultures and countries, to interpret the role of Juliet for the iconic calendar.

It sees the stars act, pose, sing; each through their own emotion, art form, personality, character and interpretation of the role.

As well as Emma, the personalities include the British actresses Claire Foy and Mia Goth, the American actresses Indya Moore, Yara Shahidi and Kristen Stewart, the Chinese singer Chriss Lee, the Spanish singer Rosalia, and the Franco-Italian artist Stella Roversi.

Shot in Paris and Verona over a week in May, Roversi says of his calendar: “I am still searching for my Juliet and I will be searching all my life. Because Juliet is a dream.”

Fans of the Beauty and the Beast star will not have to wait long to see her back on the silver screen again.

The actress will play Margaret March, AKA Meg, in the eagerly awaited film adaptation of Little Women – the American coming-of-age period drama which is based on the novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott.

The movie, which also stars Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep, 70, Saoirse Ronan, 25, and James Norton, 34, is set to have its world premiere at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival on December 9.
