During the live video, Howard said how difficult it was to keep the secret of Baby Yoda, explaining the hardest part was making sure her kids didn’t say anything.

“My kids came to visit set quite a bit, and I was just like, ‘you guys have to keep this secret. You cannot reveal anything about this,'” she said. “Every single morning we would practice, ‘okay, what are you going to not talk about today? And they’d say, Baby Yoda!'”

When asked if she would adopt Baby Yoda, Howard immediately responded, “Oh my gosh yes! Who wouldn’t? Who wouldn’t??”

Howard also spoke about the inspiration from Jurassic World for the AT-ST in the fourth episode and her excitement to include it within the chapter she directed.“I didn’t feel like we really had seen an AT-ST be as scary as it potentially can be before,” she said.

“And the other thing that I was really eager to explore, is that I wanted it to feel like a dinosaur. And John was totally cool with that. That’s sort of the reference I definitely go to in my head – the idea of being chased by a T-Rex, that’s familiar to me,” she said. “That’s something that was really fun, was to just project that persona onto the AT-ST.”

When asked what her favorite part about directing episode 4 was, Howard said, “Getting the chance to work with really, really, awesome women. I would love to speak to Gina Carano and the incredible icon that she is. Gina as a woman is an exceptional human being.”For more on The Mandalorian, read our review of episode 4, when Mandalorians are allowed to take off their helmet, and check out how Baby Yoda sipping soup is basically the new Kermit-sipping-tea meme.
