Red Dead Redemption 2 Steam release date: Great RDR2 PC launch news for Steam gamers

The PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be completed later this week with the Steam launch.

Rockstar Games announced as much last week, although it would have been easy for fans to have missed the announcement.

A short post was shared via the studio’s Twitter account, confirming the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam.

The game has been available on the PC platform for almost a full month, via other storefronts and the Rockstar Games Launcher.

But soon, gamers who held out for the Steam version of RDR2 will be able to explore the West through the eyes of Arthur Morgan.

WHEN IS RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 RELEASING ON STEAM?

The Red Dead Redemption 2 release date on Steam has been confirmed for Thursday, December 5, 2019.

Even the Steam Store page for RDR2 has gone live, following weeks of waiting by Rockstar fans.

However, the game still cannot be pre-purchased from the Steam Store, even though it can be nominated for a Steam Award.

It’s unclear if gamers will be able to pre-purchase Red Dead Redemption 2 from the Steam Store before December 5.

We also don’t know when exactly the game will become playable on the Valve platform. More news could be shared in the coming days by Rockstar Games.

Fans will be hoping for a midnight release on December 5 but fans will have to keep an eye on the RDR2 Steam page for more information.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been available on the PC platform for some weeks but suffered from major issues when it first arrived.

But from the latest news shared by Rockstar Games, it appears that everything should be back to normal levels by the team of the Steam launch.

In a new statement, the dev team revealed that bugs were being squashed and that new rewards are being made available to PC players.

“After a series of updates to the game, the Rockstar Games Launcher and the latest NVIDIA drivers, we believe the vast majority of performance issues for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC have now been resolved,” the message from Rockstar explains.

“That said, we will continue to work to tackle any lingering issues as we move forward and if you are still experiencing issues, please visit Rockstar Support for the latest information and to request assistance.

“As we mentioned in our recent PC update post, everyone who plays Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC from launch and through to the holiday season will receive a complimentary care package for Red Dead Online to assist in their travels.

“All Red Dead Online PC players will receive the finely detailed Prieto Poncho, available for free in the Camp Wardrobe or at any clothing store. Wheeler, Rawson & Co. will also supply a curated care package of items to help players survive out on the open range.

“And when the next major update to Red Dead Online comes to PC, Stadia, PS4 and Xbox One this December, PC players will also receive a variant of the brand-new Marino Bandolier, plus a new Off-Hand Holster and additional care package as a gift.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, with Steam support coming this week.
