Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Shirley Ballas reveals which 'emotional' dance made her cry

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 hosted yet another action-packed evening last night, as the contestants once again put their best foot forward for the elusive Glitter Ball. Included in the ongoing competition was a judges dance, which saw them all pair up and give some performances of their own.

Included in this venture was a short but sweet prance around the stage between head judge Shirley Ballas and Strictly professional Anton du Beke.

The pair engaged in a slow and sensitive ballroom piece, which saw them swinging around the room.

It is the one of the few times this season which saw Shirley taking to the stage herself instead of just judging.

Today, Shirley appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, in which host Simon Rimmer commented: “It’s nice to see you dancing with Anton.”

Shirley responded: “Well this was on my bucket list!

“I have always wanted to dance with Anton du Beke, a Viennese Waltz.”

She added that, despite it looking so well rehearsed, Shirley didn’t know anything about the dance until the day of the show.

The judge continued: “I didn’t know ’til yesterday morning – they just came in and said: ‘We want you to come downstairs, you and Motsi [Mabuse] are going to do a little bit of dancing.’

“And I got Anton, and I was grinning from ear to ear. I got emotional, I cried.

“Anton was just delighted, we had a ball. It was a tick off my bucket list for me.”

On why this dance meant to much to her, Shirley commented: “I’ve known Anton now, probably, 30 years. He’s just such a great ballroom dancer.”

Unfortunately for Shirley, the judges were slammed during the show by fans last night.

Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse performed an American Smooth as Disney’s Gaston and Belle this weekend.

And although the stars were said to have performed an almost-flawless routine, they only scored 39 points overall.

Furious, fans wrote on Twitter, with one saying: “Am I missing something? Why the 9 from Craig? I thought Kelvin & Oti’s Gaston dance was perfect #StrictlyComeDancing2019 #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Another asked: “Is Craig saving his 10 for the final??? #Strictly.”
