Asteroid warning: NASA tracks a 21,300mph asteroid on a possible collision course in 2020

Based on NASA’s orbital calculations, Asteroid VP1 has a small chance of deviating from its orbit on two dates.

After November 2, 2020, the asteroid threatens to strike Earth twice on November 2, 2025.

If this happens, NASA estimates the rock will crash into Earth at speeds of around 9.53km per second or 21,318mph (34,307km/h).

The asteroid will then rapidly accelerate in the atmosphere to about 14.66km per second or 32,793mph (52,776km/h).

NASA further estimates the rock weighs around 35,273 pounds or 16,000kg.
