Jose Mourinho admits ‘deja vu’ over Arsenal sacking ‘fantastic coach' Unai Emery

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho described Unai Emery’s sacking from Arsenal as a “deja vu situation”. Mourinho was unceremoniously removed from Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United in recent years and that is why he sympathises with Emery.

The Spaniard was axed by the Gunners after a poor run of form that saw the north Londoners slump to eighth place in the Premier League and sat eight points adrift of the top four.

Mourinho described that turn of events as “sad news” and insists he is never pleased when a manager loses his job.

However, the Portuguese boss is confident that Emery will soon get back up on his feet and that a top club will hire him because he is a “fantastic coach”.

Mourinho said: “It’s always sad news.

“I felt it as a kid, when my dad was sacked as a manager, I’ve felt it myself when I have been sacked previously.

“There’s not one single manager who is sacked that I’m happy with. I always feel a deja vu situation.

“I’m sad for it but that’s life. Unai is a fantastic coach, not happy at Arsenal, obviously, but a fantastic coach with a proven record.

Mourinho added: “No point in telling you.

“I’m so happy here I cannot think of the possibility of another club.

“If you put any other club in the world in front of me now I’d say no.”

Arsenal stated that they let Emery go due to the recent poor run of form the club has endured in the Premier League.
