Unai Emery raises 'possibility' of Granit Xhaka comeback against Eintracht Frankfurt

Unai Emery says Granit Xhaka is in contention to make his first Arsenal appearance since October 27.

Xhaka has missed the past five games following the aftermath of his angry reaction towards fans when substituted in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Swiss was stripped of the captaincy and issued an apology but has return to the team.

Xhaka is understood to still be upset by the treatment he received and is considering his future at the club.

But Arsenal are without a win in six games and in desperate need of a confidence boost.

And speaking in his pre-match press conference, Emery revealed the 27-year-old captain has a chance of playing a part in Thursday’s Europa League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

“He’s in the group and he has the possibility to play,” Emery told reporters.

“I hope every supporter supports him.

“Xhaka’s comeback is going to be important for us.”

If Xhaka is included in the 18-man squad, his name will be read out and the reaction from the fans will be interesting.

And Emery stressed the need to connect with supporters again.

“We know the last match we were disappointed and the supporters also,” Emery said.

“My only focus is to show tomorrow our performance and connect with our supporters.

“We know our supporters are disappointed… it’s really, really our focus.

“Some teams are coming here fearless.

“My wish is tomorrow every supporter helps the team and helps the players.”
