Arsenal stance on sacking Unai Emery and replacing him with Nuno Espirito Santo explained

Arsenal have identified Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo as a potential replacement for Unai Emery, if the Spaniard is sacked. Santo has impressed during his time at Molineux, and the Gunners have placed him on a shortlist to replace their current boss, if results don’t turn around, according to BBC Sport.

Unai Emery has come under increasing amounts of pressure in recent weeks.

Fans have started to voice their discontent after a series of poor results.

The Gunners have failed to win a Premier League match since their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on October 6.

Since then, they’ve lost to Sheffield United and Leicester City, and have drawn against Crystal Palace, Wolves and Southampton.

Unai Emery has talked down claims he’s worried about his future at the club.

He insisted that his only focus is winning the next match, which is a Europa League group stage match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking ahead of the game, Emery said: “My job is to prepare for the match, to show the best performance in front of our supporters.

“My focus is only today and tomorrow, to do all the things that we have worked on here at the training ground.

“First of all, we play for the club,” said Mustafi.

“Then obviously we play for each other. We’re a team.

“If the coach is under pressure the players are under pressure. We stick together.

“Everyone is giving their best. The coach is trying to organise the team, as players we’re trying to put on the pitch what we work on in the training ground every week.”

A win for Arsenal at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday (8pm) would guarantee their spot in the Round of 32.

It would also guarantee their place as group winners, with a tie against Standard Liege still to come.
