Martin Lewis predicts festive flight sales -‘Don’t assume the sale price is the cheapest'

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis unveiled his predictions for this year’s festive sale offering from some of the biggest names in the world of travel including Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. He offered the money-saving tips as part of his annual Martin Lewis Money Saving show. The financial expert revealed some budget fights on offer as part of Black Friday, as well as other airlines he believes will be releasing deals in the lead up to 25 December.

However, he also suggested that although these deals boast incredible savings, they might not get consumers the most for their money.

This year Martin predicts that both Virgin and British Airways will be offering discounted flight fares between Monday 16 December and Sunday 22 December.

While he notes that the sale prices will certainly be lower than regular priced tickets, he points out that shopping around will get customers the absolute best deals.

“Use Skyscanner and Kayak to check for cheaper,” he suggested.

Martin also discussed Black Friday deals currently taking place right now.

Irish airline Ryanair was the main flight operator he mentioned.

“Ryanair last year did flights from £5,” he said.

“This year they have already confirmed they are doing deals across the week so keep an eye out for those if you fly with Ryanair.”

The sales will be announced at midnight on the day, but travellers will only have 24 hours to snap up savings before the deal vanishes forever.

So far deals on offer have included discounted flights to and from Poland, £30 off all return flights for summer 2020 and tickets for just £9.99.

However, Ryanair isn’t the only travel operator celebrating Black Friday with budget-friendly deals.

Emirates Holidays, Eurostar and Holiday Pirates have also announced their own offering in the lead up to the big event.
