Jose Mourinho substitutes Eric Dier after 28 minutes vs Olympiakos to leave star ‘fuming’

Jose Mourinho substituted Eric Dier after just 28 minutes with Tottenham 2-0 down against Olympiakos on Tuesday night.

The Special One was hoping to continue his 100 per cent winning record after Spurs’ 3-2 win at West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

However, Tottenham got off to a nightmare start in north London, with Youssef El-Arabi scoring after just six minutes.

Ruben Semedo then doubled Olympiakos’ lead after 19 minutes.

And Spurs’ new manager Mourinho had had enough.

The Special One told Christian Eriksen to warm up and substituted Dier after just 28 minutes.

Mourinho and Dier shook hands, however, the England international looked far from pleased when he sat down with the other substitutes.

And Jermaine Jenas, who was commentating on the game for BT Sport, reckons Dier will be fuming with Mourinho’s decision.

He said: “He’ll be fuming. That’s not going to go down well.

“He looks sluggish but he would be the one you’d take off.”

Spurs answered back just before half time with Dele Alli netting to halve Olympiakos’ lead.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy appointed Mourinho last week after opting to sack Mauricio Pochettino after a dismal start to the season.

Mourinho won his first game in charge of Spurs, with Tottenham winning 3-2 at West Ham on Saturday.

Goals from Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane put Spurs 3-0 up in east London.

However, Tottenham failed to keep out the Hammers, with Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna netting in the final 20 minutes.

Spurs held on to secure the three points and move up to tenth in the Premier League.

Mourinho’s men are back in action on Saturday afternoon against Bournemouth (3pm kick off).
