Bakersfield shooting: Two teens gunned down in horror brawl which shuts down shopping mall Police have confirmed that the Valley Plaza Mall is now secured following a shooting on Monday evening.

The first shots were heard at around 6:03pm (PST) (3:03am GMT).

Officials said there were two juvenile victims with moderate injuries.

Both were taken to nearby Kern Medical Centre.

A male suspect was detained at Carls Jr, located outside the mall.

Police said the shooting happened inside the mall, west of the Chipotle food store in the mall’s foodcourt.

Two groups are said to have gotten into a physical altercation.

This fight resulted in one male drawing a gun and starting to shoot, according the the police.

Valley Plaza Mall in Bakersfield, California, was put on lockdown after reports claimed two people were shot by an active gunman.

Police had surrounded the mall following news surfacing of the shooting, before securing the complex.

Bakersfield police confirmed that at least two people were shot.

They did not, however, at first confirm their current condition of the victims, according to ABC News.

A customer told the news outlet that they were eating at a restaurant in the mall when they heard gunshots.

One Twitter user wrote: “We’re on our way to the plaza valley my brother called crying cause he lost his friends because they heard gun shots in the mall. I’m literally shaking please be safe.”
