James Bond: Who will be 007 after Daniel Craig? Fan theory revealed

Bookmakers across the UK have seen bets flying in about who will be the new 007 and take over as James Bond. Daniel Craig is likely to leave the role after No Time to Die, though he has said this before and has stayed on for Bond 25. One theory has led some fans to believe the actor taking over as James Bond can only be one person.

There have been various names thrown around in the betting over who will become the new James Bond.

Idris Elba, James Norton, Aiden Turner and even Charlize Theron have been suggested as potential new 007s.

With Lashana Lynch’s character in the new movie taking on the 007 moniker, but not the name of Bond, there seems to be a gap in who might take on the role from Daniel Craig.

According to one Quora user, there is an argument to suggest a particular person who will take on that moniker.

Who will be James Bond after Daniel Craig?

According to a Quora user, the arguments for actors such as Henry Cavill, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba mean there is no way any of them could take on the role.

The user wrote: “Idris Elba. Too old. He’s 45. Craig is doing another Bond.

“By the time another Bond is shot, Elba will be nearly 50 and too old to sustain more than one film.

“Being black; although potentially a brave stand — may alienate as many as it attracts and would hugely shift the brand given the books were set from 1951 onwards.”

For Henry Cavill, the user suggested while he looks the part, he may not be able to pull the performance out of the bag given that “Bond is in many ways the opposite of Superman.”

The user also ruled out Tom Hiddleston as he “misses the physicality of bond” while Tom Hardy would be “too brutal-looking” to play the role.

Finally, Benedict Cumberbatch and Damian Lewis were also ruled out because the former was “too cerebral” and had a similar stature to Tom Hiddleston, while the latter may be too old to do a collection of movies.

However, the user finally believed the winner should be Michael Fassbender, for very clear reasons: “At 40, he could sign-up for three films.

“He looks the part, is edgy, aspirational and international enough. His current following would attract the producers.”

Other users agreed with him, adding in names such as Jon Hamm to the mix, however, Fassbender was clearly a strong suggestion for many fans.

While some of the arguments around other actors may have seemed harsh, it shows the commitments fans have to finding the perfect Bond – and let’s hope Daniel Craig’s final foray as 007 goes off without a hitch.

No Time to Die is in cinemas from April 3, 2020
