ORIGINAL: A new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is in the works from developers Infinity Ward for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Two COD downloads were launched last week, with one being treated as a lesser patch, containing just bug fixes.

But the second and most recent added new content Modern Warfare on all platforms. Unlike in past games, Infinity Ward is supporting the latest Call of Duty game with microtransactions and a Battle Pass.

But there are no paid map packs like in the past, which means more free content for fans. And the latest COD update provided new game modes, Featured Playlists, and three new Special Ops experiences you can play with friends via crossplay and cross-progression.

And Activision has also hinted that there next major update could include more stuff for fans to enjoy.

As explained in a recent message from Infinity Ward: “As with the previous free community content drop, this is a precursor to major in-game events that are set to deliver a larger selection of free content to all players.

“As usual, in addition to the new content available today, developer Infinity Ward is releasing a number of quality of life, tuning, and play balancing updates.

“We hope you enjoy this additional prelude to the first Season of Modern Warfare content coming free to all players on all platforms.”

So there’s a chance that we will be hearing about the next major content drop in the coming weeks. And it also sounds like there could be a smaller patch released before the next event update.

According to an IW Community Manager, an always sprint option is coming to the game and was accidentally listed in the latest patch notes.

“It’s actually being added in our next update. The note got in early, ha,” the Community Manager message reads.

For the time being, we don’t know when the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update will be released. But Infinity Ward has been pretty open about their plans so far, so news will probably be shared before it goes live.

This might include a list of patch notes so that fans will know what is being planned for the next update. It has also been confirmed that the recently added Gun Game Mode is getting a big change this week.

The development team has confirmed that they will soon be allowing parties to join gun game lobbies. This should happen later today (November 25) or within the next 24-hours. More on the new mode can be found below:

“On November 21, Infinity Ward debuts the fan-favourite Free-For-All mode, Gun Game. It requires skill and the use of all types of firearms: Each player starts a match with the same handgun.

“Every time a player defeats an enemy with the weapon, they receive a new weapon. As combat continues, and you showcase your skill by defeating more foes, expect the weaponry to become more challenging to utilize! If you’re taken out by a melee attack at any time during the match, you are “demoted” to the previous weapon and lose a point.

“If you suicide, you’re also demoted to your previous weapon.

“The final weapon you’re given is a Combat Knife (primary) and Throwing Knife (lethal), and the match ends when you take down a foe with the Throwing Knife, or execute a Finishing Move.”
