Kym Marsh: ‘So scary’ Coronation Street star speaks out on being rushed to hospital

Kym Marsh, who is best known for her role as Michelle Connor on the ITV soap Coronation Street, revealed she had to make a “nightmare hospital dash” after her chihuahua puppy named Rico had accidentally pawed her eye. The soap star admitted herself to hospital after a “small lump” on her eye did not improve after visiting an optician.

Kym spoke out about the incident but doesn’t blame her pet pooch for scratching her eye.

Speaking in her column in this week’s OK! magazine, she divulged: “This week you nearly didn’t get a column from me after a nightmare hospital dash!”

Talking about the incident she explained: “Rico [her dog] – is playful and likes to stroke your face with his paws. But he accidentally pawed my eye.

“At first it didn’t really hurt, but when I woke up the next morning my eye was stinging and when I looked in the mirror, the left side bright red.”

The soap star initially headed to the opticians who confirmed there was small lump in her eye.

She was put on antibiotics but said over the next few days she admitted there was hardly any improvement so rushed to the eye hospital.

“They diagnosed me with a conjunctival cyst and gave me steroid drops, but warned me the cyst may never go away, which is scary,” Kym explained.

“You take your eyes for granted so it’s really nerve-wracking when something like this happens.”

In the video, Scott, who is out of the country on a military tour for six months, said: “I love you from the bottom of my heart.

“I miss you every second of every day and I can’t wan to be back hoe with you.”

Kym admitted she was unaware her beau had filmed a message dedicated to her, and revealed she was left in tears.

She told the same publication: “I was so emotional. I didn’t have a clue Scott was recording a message. It made me cry!”

Kym and Scott have been together for 18 months, and the presenter said she feels “lucky” to have met her partner.

“It’s great to know I’m with someone who loves me as much as he does and he supports me in everything I do,” she spilled.

“I’ve been unlucky in love. I’ve wanted to have a loving relationship and the kind of relationship my mum and dad have.”
