Emre Can to Barcelona

Emre Can isn’t happy at Juventus.

The German midfielder arrived in Serie on a free transfer from Liverpool but he’s seen very little competitive action under Maurizio Sarri in Turin – just four league appearances.

He’s hinted that he’ll be forced to leave the club in January should the situation not change.

Calciomercato claim clubs around Europe are already queuing up to snare his signature with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG the leading contenders.

Atalanta have named their price for Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski, who is currently on loan at Parma, is being tracked by a number of European clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United.

It’s claimed the Serie A side will accept £26million for the 19-year-old winger.

I don’t need signings

Jose Mourinho insists he doesn’t need new signings to be successful at Tottenham.

“The best gift are the players who are here. I don’t need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better,” he told reporters.

“I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them.

“I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs and some I didn’t even try because you know how difficult it was.”

Mourinho didn’t want Arsenal job

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho didn’t rate the structure at Arsenal.

The former Manchester United boss was named Spurs manager on Thursday morning, just 12 hours after Daniel Levy sacked Mauricio Pochettino.

Mourinho has been out of management since December 2018 after being axed by United.

Speculation was rife about the Portuguese heading to Arsenal to replace the under-fire Unai Emery.

However, according to The Times, Mourinho had no interest in heading to the Emirates.

They say the structure at Arsenal didn’t appeal to the Special One.

If Mourinho had replaced Emery at the Emirates, it’s likely he wouldn’t be able to splash the cash like he usually does.

Rashford defends Solskjaer amid Pochettino links

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford insists manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the perfect man for the job amid talks suggesting Mauricio Pochettino may replace him.

Rashford told Sky Sports: “There was no hesitation from me over signing a new contract.

“And it was the same for Ole as well – I could see where his head was at, where he wanted the club to be at and for me it was just a no-brainer.

“We were on the same page and wanted the same things for the club.

“Ole is a great guy and he has the club’s interests at heart so there’s not a better person for the job in my opinion.”

Tottenham boost

Tottenham contract rebels Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen may sign new deals after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

Pochettino was sacked on Tuesday despite leading Spurs to the Champions League Final last season due to a poor start to the campaign that has seen the team slump to 14th place in the Premier League table.

Chairman Daniel Levy then announced Mourinho as the Argentine’s replacement and believes he is the perfect successor as he has won trophies for every team he has managed since 2002, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

Reports suggest that one of the reasons behind Pochettino’s sacking was that his relationship with a number of stars had cooled over the past year.

Eriksen, Aldreweireld and Vertonghen are said to be among the stars that have fallen out with the Argentinean manager and that is why they weren’t interested in signing new deals at Tottenham.

Their contracts run out this summer and Levy is facing the prospect of seeing over £100million worth of talent leaving the club for nothing.

According to the Daily Mirror, however, the contract rebels are pleased with the appointment of a proven winner like Mourinho and could extend their stay at the club.

Mourinho’s text message to Kane

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho sent a text message to Harry Kane shortly after he was named as the club’s new manager.

According to The Times, Mourinho messaged Kane shortly after his appointment to tell him he’s the best striker in Europe and would help Spurs win trophies.

The 26-year-old forward has been linked with moves away from Spurs after failing to win a trophy in his five full seasons, despite scoring 174 goals.

Kane is said to be eager to get started under Mourinho, with a trip to West Ham on Saturday their next fixture.

James Maddison to snub Man Utd?

James Maddison is considering turning down Manchester United’s strong interest by signing a new contract with Leicester.

Maddison has been on United’s radar since June and their interest intensified this season as he has already contributed six goals and two assists for the Foxes.

According to Manchester Evening News, however, the midfielder is keen on extending his deal at King Power Stadium, which runs until 2023, even though he is a boyhood Red Devils fan.

Sources close to the England international claim a new contract is not close to being agreed and a decision may not be taken until the end of the season.

United will continue to track him and are confident that they will be able to land him in the near future as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad rebuild.

Bruno Fernandes to Man Utd bargain

Manchester United could sign Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes on the cheap.

That’s according to Portuguese publication O Jogo, who claim Sporting are in financial trouble and desperate to raise funds.

It’s said the Portuguese giants have £57million in outstanding debts and would happily offload Fernandes for £65m to balance the books and sign a replacement.

Fernandes, who was linked with United, Real Madrid and Tottenham this summer, has continued his tremendous form this season – netting nine goals and providing six assists in 17 appearances.

Tottenham backed to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Tottenham have been urged to sign veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to boost their plight of winning silverware this season.

Danny Mills told Football Insider: “How about Zlatan to Tottenham? Who’s the backup striker to Harry Kane? They haven’t got one.

“He’s unattached, he’s left the MLS, he’s a free agent and as ludicrous as it sounds, think of the experience that he’s got.

“Everybody talks about when he went to Manchester United, what he added to the dressing room, the work ethic that he’s got.

“I’m not saying he’s going to go in and replace Harry Kane, but he would be one hell of an option as almost a player-coach role type scenario.

“He’s obviously revered all over the world, I think he’s got enough confidence to pull it off.

“From Tottenham’s point of view he’s a marketing dream, he’s going to sell a lot of shirts very, very quickly, he loves Mourinho to bits.

“You just start to think, is it a possibility to bring a player like that in to give them a bit of a boost?”

Manchester United could be about to miss out on one of their key January transfer targets.

Now, they could lose out on him again, with Wolves reportedly close to making a move in January.

Mauricio Pochettino to Arsenal backed

Arsenal need to seriously consider firing Unai Emery and replacing him with Mauricio Pochettino, Martin Keown claims.

“There’s no need to panic at Arsenal, we are getting close to panic by the way, because we’re not having the best of seasons, but the powers that be at the top of the club should be seriously considering Pochettino,” he said.

“I have a lot of admiration for what he did at Tottenham, the way he nurtured those young players and he didn’t spend a great deal of money.

“I don’t think Tottenham spent enough.

“I know the poor record he has recently, I know it all but I still would have given him another chance. I don’t like the way Tottenham have done it.

“There will be a lot of chairmen looking at him now.

“Manchester United wanted him this time last year. I think Arsenal would have to be interested if they want to take a step forward.”

Man Utd deadline

Man Utd want to sign Erling Haaland by next summer.

The Mail say United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is intent on signing the Red Bull Salzburg striker.

Salzburg are supposedly looking for £75million to sell their main man, who has netted 22 goals in 16 games this season.

United are hoping to sign Haaland in January, however, if a deal cannot be agreed, they want him by next summer.

Arsenal exit

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is stalling on signing a new deal at the club as he waits to see if Barcelona are interested in his signature.

The Gabon forward has impressed for the Gunners since making the switch from Borussia Dortmund back in January of 2018.

And he has carried that good form into this season, netting nine goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Now SPORT claim Aubameyang is hesitating on committing to Arsenal as he is waiting to see if Barca are interesting in bringing him to the Nou Camp.

Unai Emery will be desperate for the striker to stay in north London as he pushes to finish in the top four.
