Man Utd news LIVE: Woodward stance on January transfers, Ronaldo eyeing return, Pogba swap

James Maddison stance on Man Utd transfer

James Maddison could commit his long-term future to Leicester and snub Manchester United.

The Red Devils are eyeing a move for the England international, who has impressed for the Foxes this season.

However, the Manchester Evening News say Maddison could sign a new contract with Leicester and stay at the King Power Stadium.

Maddison could end up waiting until next summer to make a final decision on his future.

Man Utd fans on Jose Mourinho to Tottenham

Manchester United fans are torn on Tottenham’s decision to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new boss.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “I hope he does really well to show up Woodward. Not too well like.”

Another agreed: “Jose coming back to slap us at Old Trafford.”

“Spurs team is better than ours,” a fellow United fan said.

“With a José behind them, those guys will pull some Mourinho Masterclass considering he (José) has a point to prove to our fans coz of Woodward failing him.”

However, some fans are convinced Mourinho is destined to fail at Tottenham.

“Mourinho sacked by the end of the season, calling it now,” one fan said.

“If Jose thought Shaw was s***, wait until he has to work with Aurier!!!” another wrote on Twitter.

A fellow United fan said: “Disaster waiting to happen, more importantly now tho Ole now on a very short leash with Pochettino out there.”

Cristiano Ronaldo return

Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Manchester United if Juventus fail to win the Champions League.

That’s according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda.

Ronaldo has had a turbulent season at Juventus under Maurizio Sarri this time out.

And Inda claims Ronaldo is considering a shock return to Old Trafford if Juventus don’t win the Champions League this season.

He said on Spanish television programme ‘Chiringuito De Jugones’: “Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Juventus at the end of the current season if they do not win Champions.

“He went to Turin to try and win his third Champions League with a different club but things are getting complicated.”

Paul Pogba swap deal

United will be offered both Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic by Juventus for Paul Pogba in January.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are ready to bring him back to Turin in the New Year.

Pogba established himself as one of the world’s most talented midfielders during his time at Juventus before heading back to United in 2016.

Juventus now want to bring the 26-year-old back, and are reportedly willing to include both Can and Mandzukic in an offer to United.

Ed Woodward stance on January transfers

United will only sign players in January who are targets for the summer transfer window, the Manchester Evening News claim.

The Red Devils will not complete any quick-fix deals to boost their season.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Declan Rice of West Ham and Leicester’s James Maddison are all targets for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and chief Ed Woodward.

United have also been tipped to move for Erling Haaland after scoring 27 goals in 18 games for RB Salzburg this season.
