Paul McCartney Glastonbury 2020: Will Paul McCartney be headlining Glastonbury next year?

Paul McCartney, best known for his work as a member of the Beatles, has left fans with a huge hint that he will be headlining Glastonbury 2020. The Let It Be singer posted a very cheeky puzzle for fans to solve, with many believing this confirms his appearance on the Pyramid Stage. But will Paul McCartney, lovingly known as Macca, be heading to Glasto for the 2020 festival?

Paul McCartney took to Twitter to post about the festival, sending fans in a frenzy.

The veteran singer posted three images – one of pianist and composer Philip Glass, one of actress Emma Stone and the other of singer/songwriter Chuck Berry.

When fans worked the puzzle out, they realised the surnames of these three people spell out a very exciting word: Glass-Stone-Berry.

This appeared to confirm Macca’s appearance at Glastonbury, though Michael and Emily Eavis, those behind the festival, are yet to confirm from their side.

Others who have been suggested as possible headliners have included Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder.

The 1975, Fleetwood Mac and even Led Zeppelin have also been discussed as potential headliners, in the festival which will mark the 50th anniversary of Glastonbury.

According to Sky Bet, those with the best odds to headline on the Pyramid Stage are Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift at 4/7, Arctic Monkeys at 10/11 and Foals at 4/1.

All of these artists have released new material in the last year or so, meaning there will definitely be a chance these acts take to the stage.

The 1975 is currently sitting on 4/1 odds, while Aerosmith are at 9/2.

Fleetwood Mac, with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, are at 13/2 odds, while Madonna is at 7/1.

Coldplay, who have also been sending cryptic clues to fans about their new album, are sitting on odds of 9/1, which is the same as Queen and Adam Lambert.

However, Queen’s Brian May has seemingly “snubbed” Glasto after speaking out about the organisers.

Asked whether it was a possibility during an interview on BBC Radio 2, May said: “No, we won’t. And there are lots of reasons for that.

“One of them is that Michael Beavis — Eavis, sorry — has frequently insulted me and I don’t really particularly enjoy that.

“But what bothers me more is that he’s in favour of the badger cull, which I regard as a tragedy and an unnecessary crime against wildlife.

“So, no. There’s a little bit of a schism there. I wouldn’t do Glastonbury… unless things changed radically.”

Asked if it was the reason the band wouldn’t be receiving top billing at the Festival any time soon, he said: “Not really but it does have a bearing on it. I have to say, it does have a bearing on it.”

Eavis also claimed Queen’s agent had sent him a handwritten postcard in the hopes of landing a spot on the bill at the Glastonbury.

“It almost worked, I tell you,” he said, before adding that the rockers were “not quite our thing”.

Glastonbury 2020 takes place on June 24 until June 28.
