Outlander season 5: Claire Fraser star hints at new 'challenging' scenes

Outlander viewers have enjoyed seeing how the show has progressed throughout the first few seasons of the show. Although the TV show draws from the books of the same franchise, it has moved away from the story a little in its time on screen so far.

Despite this, Claire Fraser star Caitriona Balfe has now spoken out about her tough upcoming scenes in the show.

Caitriona appears in the brand new film Ford V Ferrari, where she takes on the role of Mollie Miles.

Although Mollie is an incredibly strong character for Caitriona to play, she has now revealed the next season will see her diving in to some huge and challenging scenes.

Speaking to Collider about her upcoming film, she explained: “Yeah. It’s funny, we’ve all started to definitely feel that we’re in a very privileged place with the show.

“That it’s running this long, that it still has an audience, and that the audience seems to be growing, and they’re still invested.

“What we’ve really loved about filming this season is that we’ve found ways to continue to push the boundaries.”

She then went on to tease the touch scenes she had to delve into during filming.

“For Claire,” Caitriona went on. “Towards the end of the season, I have some really challenging material, and that’s so lovely to get, so deep into a series.

“As seasons go on, you plateau and you’re not doing things as interesting, but we really do still push the boundaries, and that’s great, as an actor.”

Claire may have a tough season ahead of her as her daughter, Brianna Fraser (played by Sophie Skelton) recently gave birth to her son.

This birth follows shortly after some trouble Brianna had with her husband, Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin).

With much at stake in the American Revolutionary War, and Claire’s uncertainty in staying in the past, the show could certainly take a turn for its protagonist.

Meanwhile, Caitriona has also recently spoken out about the potential end of the show.

While it has not yet been announced exactly how many seasons the fantasy show will receive, Caitriona has at the very least pointed to where she would like to go next.

Claire and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) started out in Scotland, and quickly moved to Paris, the Caribbean, and eventually America, the Claire star has revealed she would like to return to the Caribbean next season.

Speaking to Stylist, she confessed: “I hope they go [back] to the Caribbean soon – somewhere warm to shoot!
