Google Stadia release update is big boost against PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Google Stadia announced some good news this week that will help in the competition against the likes of Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.

Stadia is launching on November 19 in a limited form that will see Founder and Premiere Edition buyers get first access.

It also matters when you pre-ordered your Google Stadia bundle, as this will facilitate the date in which it will arrive.

So there’s a chance that some Google Stadia buyers will be missing a few things later this week.

However, Google Stadia invite codes will be available to everyone who has bought a Google Stadia controller and Chromecast.

So access will still be there for those who plan to use it with a keyboard and mouse.

And the good news announced this week is that Google Stadia gamers will have more titles to buy on release day.

The limited Google Stadia library is seen as one of its main weaknesses and is something that gamers will want to see expand quickly.

But since the first titles were confirmed for launch day, Google has now revealed that there will be a total of 22 games to choose from.

Google’s Phil Harrison revealed as much on Twitter, telling his followers: “Excited to announce that we are INCREASING the Day One launch line-up of titles for Google Stadia.

“We now have TWENTY TWO games launching with the platform on Tuesday. Huge thank you to our game developer and publisher partners for bringing more titles.”

Major titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mortal Kombat 11 will all be playable via Google Stadia.

And huge, heavyweight releases such as Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Avengers and Watch Dogs Legion will be coming to Google Stadia in 2020.

Stadia was originally confirmed to have 12 games that would be playable on November 19, which has now been expanded with the titles listed as coming in 2019.

And Stadia will also be launching their own first-party content in the future, telling fans earlier in 2019:

“Stadia Games and Entertainment’s studio will produce exclusive, original content across a diverse portfolio of games in all your favourite genres.

“Stadia is designed to be one destination for all the ways people play games—and Montréal is where we’re going to start building them.

“Just as Stadia intends to change the way games are accessed and experienced by players, we want to change the way games are made. That starts with our culture.

“Stadia is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace; these diverse perspectives will shape the games we create together.

“We’re committed to building an environment that will empower the developers who work at Stadia to create new, unique gaming experiences.”
