Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has reminisced about his dreams to play for the club as an 11-year-old, sharing a letter he wrote when he was a youngster, on Twitter.
Rashford burst onto the scene for United in 2016 when he became a late replacement for an injured Anthony Martial against Midtjylland in the Europa League.
The 22-year-old scored twice against the Danish side before notching another two against Arsenal three days later in the Premier League.
Rashford became a United regular soon after and he’s since scored 54 goals for his boyhood club, who he’s played for since he was just eight years old.
And on Friday, Rashford shared a letter he wrote as an 11-year-old, detailing his aspirations to one day play for United.
“My mum just dug this out… my attempt from when I was younger!” Rashford wrote on Twitter.
“Keep working hard and you can achieve whatever you want.”
The letter read: “I hope that my future is very bright in and out of school especially my career as a footballer.
“I want to have a different lifestyle and make my family and others proud of me.
“I only have one aim in life and that is to be a professional football, and hopefully at Manchester United.
“I have experienced a lot of things associated with Manchester United and with school.
“I am very proud of myself because I have got to where I am today.
“Many kids would love to do what I have done therefore I will always work hard and never take anything for granted.
“I promise that I will work my hardest and I will try my best to become, a professional footballer.”
Rashford has scored six times this season for United but the Red Devils are struggling in the league as they sit seventh on 16 points.
