Luis Suarez snubs Antoine Griezmann as he urges Barcelona chiefs to make transfer plans

Barcelona star Luis Suarez wants the Catalans to sign a new centre-forward that will succeed him at the Nou Camp.

Despite the club spending around £110m on Antoine Griezmann during the summer, Suarez wants Barcelona to prepare for his exit as he’s already 32-years-old.

Suarez insisted that he wouldn’t be upset if a new striker came to the club, insisting that it’s just the business of football.

He also thinks that the added competition will help to push him further, helping him to maintain his levels for longer.

“There will come a time when my age won’t allow me to be at the high level that it is needed for Barcelona,” he told Uruguayan publication Ovacion.

“But while I can and have the strength, it’ll be much better if they bring in competition.

“It’s not strange if they’re looking for or want to bring in another striker. That’s the reality of football.

“It will be better for me because it will place demands on me. It’ll be better for the club because it’ll boost competition.”

“It has been five years with the same pressure and I always try to respond in the same way,” he said.

“It’s not easy to come to play at a club like this and win your place. You have an exam every three days. There’s no rest and a bad day isn’t forgiven.”

Suarez signed for Barcelona from Liverpool after the 2013/2014 season, in a deal worth around £74million.

He’s gone on to make 260 appearances for the Catalonia club, scoring 185 goals.

The 32-year-old has had a prolific start to this season, despite have two spells on the touchline for separate injuries.

He missed two weeks in August with a calf injury, and was left out of the club’s most recent Champions League match against Slavia Prague with a sprained ankle.

But, he’s still managed to score six goals in 10 La Liga appearances this season, as well as two goals in the Champions League.

Barcelona are currently top of the Spanish league on goal difference, marginally ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
