What is the best time to see the Leonid meteor shower?
Individual Leonids will burst into our atmosphere at incredible speeds of 70km per second or more than 15,600mph.
At such speeds, the meteors vaporise into bright, glowing streaks of light dubbed shooting stars.
These shooting stars are best seen in the late-night hours after midnight and before dawn when the skies are at their darkest.
This year, however, the presence of a bright Waning Gibbous Moon might hinder the viewing experience.
The Royal Observatory Greenwich in London also warned half of the shower’s peak will occur below the horizon when viewed from the UK.
