Robert Carlyle: ‘F***ing disaster’ The War of the Worlds actor reveals his view on Brexit

Robert Carlyle lives in west Vancouver, Canada, with his wife Anastasia and their children Ava, 17, Harvey, 15, and Pearce 13. Despite living abroad, the Scotsman addressed an outsider’s view of Brexit in the latest issue of Radio Times.

The 58-year-old actor said the situation is “very sad”, as he claimed he knows people who have fell out with their family or friends over whether the United Kingdom should remain in the European Union.

In the publication, the Trainspotting actor described Brexit as a “f***ing disaster”.

He continued: “People are entitled to their opinion. Whether they voted remain or whether they voted to leave, that’s up to them, their opinion’s valid.

“But maybe it’s interesting for people to see how the world views this all – it seems like a shocking thing to be happening.”

On The Jonathan Ross Show last Friday, Eleanor revealed she had to be rescued from drowning while filming the new series.

During a scene supposedly set in the ocean, Eleanor had to swim to the bottom of the swimming pool they were filming in.

However, the heavy weight of her Victorian era costume prevented her from reaching the water’s surface, and she feared she would drown.

Eleanor explained: “That costume when it gets wet, let me tell you, I was like a lead balloon and I just went completely down and ended up sitting on the bottom of the pool just waiting for this diving team to come and rescue me and thinking, ‘Oh gosh I think I might die here, this is quite strange’.

“Then sure enough there they were.”

Eleanor also said she believes aliens exit, as she went on: “I think that we’d be foolish to think we’re the only life source and only life organisms on any planet in the whole universe.

“If you think about light years, imagine there must be planets that have the ability to harbour life that aren’t at this stage yet.

“And there must be planets that have had life on them.”

The latest issue of Radio Times is out now.
