Southern Charm Season 7 In Jeopardy As Producers Have Scrapped Four Weeks Of Footage

Season 7 of Southern Charm is in big trouble. According to a new report, producers of the show have scrapped four weeks of footage and have pushed back filming until January so they can figure out what they are going to do with their numerous cast problems.

According to Reality Blurb, the assumption was that the Southern Charm filming delays were a result of Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis’ lengthy custody battle over their two kids, Kensie and Saint. But, it turns out there were actually “cast issues” that the producers have had to deal with, and they have even been looking for new cast members because of the lack of drama and story lines with the current stars.

Just last month, Shep Rose admitted on The Ross Bolen Podcast that the future of Southern Charm was up in the air.

“I don’t know if we’re doing another season. But, we aren’t doing one now,” said Rose. “If I had a gun to my head, I’d say they want us to do another season. The ratings, I think, are pretty good.”

Rose explained that when Whitney Sudler-Smith created Southern Charm, he wanted to show that the South is sophisticated and interesting, and not everyone who lives there is like Honey Boo Boo. Even though they couldn’t imagine what the show would turn into, it ended up being a success for Bravo. And, a lot of that success was thanks to the drama between Ravenel and Dennis.

But, Bravo fired Ravenel before they started filming Season 6 because two women accused him of sexual assault, and many found last season to be pretty bland because of his absence. Now, Season 7 is off to an even worse start, and Tamra Tattles claims that producers have scrapped four weeks of filming with new cast members and have put things on hold until January.

Rose also caused problems for producers last season because he used the term “white trash,” and then this past summer he caused controversy when he made fun of a woman who was collecting cans in New York City by posting a video on social media and then defending his behavior.

With all of the problems going on in Charleston, there are also claims that Ravenel could be trying to make his way back to Southern Charm for a “redemption storyline” after he avoided jail time and settled with the victims in his criminal case and won primary custody of his children.

Season 7 of Southern Charm is expected to return to Bravo in the spring of 2020.
