Dan Walker, 42, today shared a video clip of D-Day veteran Harry Billinge, 94, who appeared on BBC Breakfast earlier this week. The World War Two soldier was being interviewed by presenter Naga Munchetty, 44, where he said he was “lucky to still be here”.
In view of his 589,000 Twitter followers, Dan captioned the post: “We will never forget them. We will never forget men like Harry Billinge #RememberanceSunday.”
Harry said in the clip: “Don’t thank me and don’t say I’m a hero. I’m no hero, I was lucky, I’m here.”
“All the heroes are dead and I’ll never forget them as long as I live.”
Speaking about his experiences during the war, he mused: “When I landed it was hell. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. You had the ships firing over your head and the Germans firing at you from inland. 88 millimetere guns they used, which would blow you off the face of the earth.

Earlier this week, Harry was welcomed into the BBC Breakfast studios by Naga and Charlie Stayt to discuss his fundraising efforts and gave the veteran a glimpse of what his hard work has achieved.
Naga introduced: “I’m sure many of you will remember Harry Billinge the 94-year-old war veteran who captured the hearts of millions of people when he appeared on Breakfast earlier this year.”
Charlie added: “He spoke about being amongst the first wave of troops of the D-Day landings aged just 18.”
“And he said he could never forget his comrades who lost their lives telling us they were heroes, now his emotional comments won him admirers from all over the world,” Naga said.
