Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum sends warning to Man City – ‘Our mindset is different’

Liverpool fought back from a goal down last weekend against Aston Villa to keep themselves at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were 1-0 down going into the final three minutes of the game at Villa Park before Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane’s late goals earned them three points.

Then, just days after, they managed to grind out a 2-1 win against Genk after putting in a poor performance, with Wijnaldum scoring the winner.

And the Dutchman believes their ability to get results when games aren’t going their way is what sets them apart from the rest.

“We just create that thing that we know we always can turn things around,” said the Dutchman.

“We always have that feeling, to stay positive.

“That’s also because of the results we had until now, and the way we came back.

“Our mindset is different, which is quite good, because we keep doing the things we want to do in a game.”

Liverpool have the chance to go almost out of sight at the top of the table with a win on Sunday.

They are currently six points ahead of City, and can stretch the lead to nine points if they beat the champions.

And Wijnaldum warned that they will keep fighting until the end, no matter what happens in the game.

“Normally if you are 2-0 down, your body language is going to change, but we still have that mindset that we can still turn it around,” he continued.

“It’s because of the belief we have in each other, but also the results we have had.

“We have (turned games around) a lot of times. That gives us confidence.

“If it just happened once, it’s not the same. But it happened over and over.

“We know we are a team that can always come back from difficult situations – but of course we don’t want to let it go that far.”
