Jurgen Klopp rates chances of Liverpool signing PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will not sign PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The Reds were linked with the France international, who has already netted 11 goals for PSG this season.

Reports in Spain suggested the 20-year-old could be a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield, with Real Madrid eyeing the Egypt winger.

However, Klopp, who tried to sign Mbappe before he joined PSG in 2017, admits Liverpool simply cannot afford the French sensation.

He said: “I don’t see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG.

“And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it, it is as easy as that.

“OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him, what a player he is.

“It is about the money of course.

“No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story.”

Real Madrid are desperate to sign Mbappe, with Zinedine Zidane keen on his countryman.

Zidane has been vocal on Real’s interest in the forward, claiming it’s Mbappe’s ‘dream’ to play at the Bernabeu.

Liverpool are flying under Klopp this season, with the Reds winning 10 and drawing one of their opening Premier League games.

They boast a six point advantage ahead of Manchester City heading into Sunday’s showdown at Anfield.

A win for the European champions would take their lead to nine points after just 11 games.

Klopp admits things are going well for Liverpool at the moment and Anfield is an attractive destination for world-class players.

He added: “The club is in a very good position.

“Image-wise, it maybe (always) was but now I think it is easier to live the life of a Liverpool supporter and that means automatically being in a situation to sign the players you want to sign.”

Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday afternoon (4pm kick off).
