Yasmeen (played by Shelley King) has been taking centre stage in a harrowing coercive control plot on Coronation Street, with her menacing partner Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) taking dominance of every aspect of her life. However, this evening’s hour-long episode of the ITV soap hinted there may be a way the pensioner can escape her ordeal as her abuser continued to play mind games with her. But is he actually cheating on his beloved?
Over the course of the past few months, Geoff’s abuse of Yasmeen has been subtle and only in recent weeks has he stepped up a gear by becoming overly volatile with her.
Having gone into business with the grandmother as co-owners of the Speed Daal restaurant, the Weatherfield villain has been laying down the law about how he wants things to run now he’s got a stake in the premises.
It was his plans to change up the rules on drinking which led his partner to count whether he was having an affair behind her back.
After failing to let her see what he was really looking at on his laptop, spinning her a lie about a promotion he was working on, Yasmeen discovered the hospital radio DJ had been chatting with a woman on a dating site.
Could this be a hint for the beginning of the end for the couple as they head towards a split?

Geoff managed to manipulate the situation by explaining he was conducting research for a new segment and somehow managed to push the blame on to his partner for jumping to assumptions.
As the pair clashed, the villain reiterated he wasn’t having an affair and became quite unpleasant towards his partner over her doubts, but kept playing with the idea she believed he was cheating on her.
In the midst of the argument, he revealed he was planning a trip away, leaving Yasmeen even more concerned she was being betrayed.
Eventually, the abuser told her he was going to take her away after by once again teasing there was a mystery woman on the agenda.
Worried she was going to lose him, the pensioner pleaded: “I never doubted you for a moment but I can see you’re hurt and I just want to make it right.”
Although she expressed her desire to still on the trip, Geoff shut down her hopes once again and next week’s episode will see her try to convince him they should get out of Weatherfield.
The sinister villain does eventually decide to go with his partner to Las Vegas but whilst out there, will he test her by flirting with other women?
Could another argument between the pair lead to him having a one night stand to make Yasmeen feel belittled and unloved?
Or could there be another woman on the cobbles Geoff will make a play for as he continues to play mind games with his beloved?
Having been cheated on by her ex-husband Sharif Nazir (Marc Anwar), who was having an affair with a family friend for many years, Yasmeen could decide to end things with her abuser.
As history begins to repeat itself, this could be the chance the pensioner has been needing to take control back.
How will the villain react if he is dumped as his plans begin to crumble apart?
