Man Utd vs Partizan Belgrade LIVE: Confirmed line ups, updates from Europa League clash

Ole on Greenwood starting

“A win will secure that we’re through to the next round. We’ve got a game on Sunday as well, I had both games in consideration,” he told BT Sport.

“But also Experience would do us well tonight. The boys are full of confidence.

“Of course I’m confident we can change, we have talented players going forward, we can defend well.

“Now it’s just that little spark. We’ve got lots of talent in the squad.

The story so far

The last time United played Partizan – the two sides shared the pitch for what was a truly unmemorable 90 minutes as the Red Devils won 1-0.

The goal was also unmemorable as Anthony Martial put a penalty away in the 45th minute of the game in Belgrade.

With that win, United put themselves into second place in Group L, where they have seven points from their three games.

Partizan are in third position on four points – a win for them tonight would put them level with United, who are a point behind AZ Alkmaar – current big dogs of the group.

Rainy night in Manchester

Courtesy of BBC Sport’s Simon Stone… get a load of this – TV cameras have been covered up because it is absolutely bucketing it down on Old Trafford.

And in response to United’s Twitter account asking who the main man will be tonight… these are the answers.

One disgruntled fan said: “Woodward when he sacks Ole.” Lovely.

Another wrote: “Why are we playing such a strong XI vs a pub team??” Partizan would probably win that Pub League.

This supporter tweeted: “None of them, they are all rubbish.” Positive as ever.

And ‘@Slabhead_szn’ went with: “No one.” Nice and short.

Here those Red Devils are…

Solskjaer’s say

The work everyone does every day is pleasing as a manager,” said Solskjaer ahead of tonight’s game.

“It is hard work, stick together and team spirit. They want to do well and for one reason or another we haven’t had the results.

“We think we should have had a few more results than we have got, but we need to keep working and we know we are on the right track.

“Of course, Saturday was disappointing and now there is a chance for us to get two wins before the break.”

Hi there!

Hello and welcome to Express Sport’s incredible, if I do say so myself, coverage of Manchester United vs Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League.

United take on the Serb side at Old Trafford – a place where the Red Devils have found happy times hard to come by in recent weeks, months and even years.

Thursday nights are not when I should be sat here blogging Manchester United games. So manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is here to hopefully fix that for you!

Though they’ve played some pretty drab football this year, results haven’t been great, and there’s eagerness to compete in huge games again – we can only serve you Partizan Pie.

Sit back, relax and at least try to enjoy, United fans.
