Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: New maps DLC and COD patch notes this week

Developers Infinity Ward has confirmed that they will be releasing a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update this week.

Modern Warfare patch 1.07 was already teased as something being worked on by the COD dev team.

And it was suggested this would be another update focused on fixing bug issues and removing crashing problems.

But now it has also been revealed that fresh content will be included in the next major Call of Duty Modern Warfare update.

This was confirmed on Twitter via the official Call of Duty account, which revealed that new maps would be part of the download.

They also confirmed that none of this new content would need to be purchased and that everyone who owns the base game will be able to enjoy it.

And fans won’t have to wait long before the new maps and modes are released by Activision, who revealed that the patch would be launched on Friday, November 8.

“Free Maps and Hardpoint coming to Modern Warfare,” the message from Activision confirmed.

“New Multiplayer Map – Shoot House. New Ground War Map – Krovnik Farmland. Hardpoint. Free for all players, available Friday 11/8.”

We don’t have a set time for this new Modern Warfare update to go live, but it would make sense for Activision to stick to their normal launch schedule.

And if that happens, we can probably expect this new map pack to arrive in the UK after 6pm, GMT.

As ever, Modern Warfare fans will need to be prepared to download and install a new update for the game, which could be of a large size.

More guidance could be shared in the coming hours or after the new changes have gone live, along with patch notes to explain the various tweaks being made.

This appears to be the first of new maps being launched by Activision and Infinity Ward for free.

The dev team has promised to release these simultaneously on all platforms, meaning that everyone on PS4, Xbox and PC should get access tomorrow.

It’s part of a new strategy where Call of Duty will be supported by a Battle Pass system, rather than a Loot Box system like in the past.

“All functional content that has an impact on game balance, such as base weapons and attachments, can be unlocked simply by playing the game,” a message from Infinity Ward explains.

“The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.

“With the new Battle Pass system, players will be able to earn COD Points by playing the game.

“There will be both a Free Stream and a Premium Stream of content in the Battle Pass System in Modern Warfare.

“New base weapons will be earned through gameplay, simply by playing Modern Warfare. Functional attachments for base weapons can be unlocked through gameplay as well just like in the game’s Beta.”

More details on tomorrow’s maps and modes will be shared in official COD patch notes, which will go live after the big update.
