Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd, 31, attempted to go undercover in a fancy dress costume to try and surprise a fan, but his plan backfired. Pride of Britain Awards winner and Coronation Street fan Dante Marvin, 11, believed he was helping to pick a charity’s new mascot.
The actor tried to disguise himself as the mascot in a fluffy blue costume which covered his face and body.
At first, Dante said the character was “very tall,” as Jack apologised for being late.
But, when Jack began to speak more to Dante, the latter guessed it was him as he said aloud: “He sounds like Jack Shepherd!”
After the David Platt’s star’s move was uncovered, he unveiled his identity while laughing.
“I knew it was him! I said you sounded like Jack Shepherd!” Dante said as the pair giggled.
Jack added: “I tried to change my accent, I couldn’t!”
The actor later presented Dante, who was born with brittle bone disease and scoliosis, with a Child of Courage award at the event.
Elsewhere, Jack tried to help another fan when the latter’s mother approached him on Twitter.
A social media user asked the ITV star if he could help her with details about a Coronation Street tour for their son’s birthday.
They wrote: “@JackPShepherd88 my 7 year old son has become obsessed with Corrie and watches all the episodes that you are in.
“He is desperate to go on the tour to see you… sort it out David! His birthday is 29th Dec… what can you do?????? Xx.”(sic)
In view of his 437,000 followers, Jack replied: “They do the tours on a weekend when we don’t film so non of the actors are in xx.”
