PS4 update: Download a surprise PlayStation game bonus now

PS4 gamers looking for a new challenge this weekend can download and play a title that isn’t launching until next year.

Free content arrives on the PSN every week and its surprising just how many demos and trials are included.

And while we have only just started the month of November, gamers already have the chance of playing something new.

Following on from the bonuses supplied during October 2019, PlayStation has now made it possible to play a version of Nioh 2.

And what makes this new offer stand out is that the full game isn’t expected to be launched until next year.

Technically, this weekend’s Nioh 2 is being treated as an open beta by developers by Team Ninja.

And it should also be noted that this new build of the game won’t be available to play forever.

Weighing in at less than 15GB, this new content also comes in a number of languages, making it even more accessible globally.

It should also be noted that Nioh 2 has an age rating of 18+ meaning only those old enough should download and play.

The new Nioh 2 demo is available to play until November 10, which means fans have over a week to put the game through its paces.

Following that, Nioh 2 is scheduled to be released in March 2020 on PS4. And there’s another great reason for fans of the franchise to dig into the beta and try and complete it before it disappears.

Team Ninja has confirmed that by reaching the end, fans can score the Mark of the Demon Slayer – a reward entitling you to unlock the Kamaitachi Helmet from the in-game Shrine to use in the full game when it arrives next year.

The Nioh 2 demo starts gamers in a safe zone before sending them off to experience a stage called Sunomata.

Here’s more from Team Ninja, revealed this week: “As you begin the beta, you will enter into a place called the Interim.

“Unlike the dojo tutorial from the previous game, the Interim is a safe zone where you will be able to choose your weapons, test out the basic moves and transition to a real stage when you are ready.

“This place was designed and based on the Tibetan Buddhist concept of intermediate, transitional state between life and death.

“I’m actually very fond of the environment we created which is modelled after the Sanzu river surrounded in tranquillity (similar to the river Styx from Greek mythology).

“As you move on from the Interim, you will start your journey in a stage called Sunomata. This stage is based on the Sunomata castle which by some accounts was constructed in just one night by Hideyoshi.

“The experience will be an interpretation of historical actualities combined with a healthy injection of Yokai adventure!

“In addition, this new stage will treat you to an impressive environment covered in autumn maple leaves.

“In a similar fashion to the cherry blossoms stage (The Village of Cursed Blossoms), we had the great fortune of highlighting another stunning time of year within Japan’s four distinct seasons.”

And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, it won’t be long before the new PS Plus games for November 2019 are released.

This includes the original Nioh game for PS4 and Outlast 2, both of which will be available to download on Tuesday, November 5.
