PSN DOWN: Server status latest, red x next to PlayStation Network name error

PSN down reports are surging in at the moment – here’s the PS4 PlayStation Network server status latest.

PSN users are reporting issues with the PlayStation Network today, with sign-in issues reported and a strange red x appearing next to their PSN name.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector has received a surge of PSN down reports.

Out of those affected some 40 per cent of PSN fans are experiencing sign in issues.

While 36 per cent of PSN users affected by today’s issues are having problems with social features, and 23 per cent with online gameplay.

The Down Detector outage maps says the PSN down issues are mainly hitting PS4 gamers in the UK, Europe and the US.

As the reported PSN server problems began PS4 fans took to social networking site Twitter to voice issues they were having online.

One tweeted: “yo is #psndown for anyone”.

Another posted: “@AskPS_UK pls tell me the servers will be fixed soon or I’ve just hauled my PS4 and TV to the boyfriends for no reason #psndown”.

One added: “@AskPlayStation my PS4 was fine this morning, turned it off for 2 hours and upon turning it in again a red X is next to my profile and I cannot access any PSN features. How do I fix this?”

And another wrote: “psn down”.

The official PlayStation Network status page has confirmed that the service is experiencing issues today.

Specifically, gaming and social features have been impacted by today’s PS4 server issues.

The PSN team said: “You may have some difficulty launching games, applications or online features.

“Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”

They said affected platforms are PS4, PS3, PS Vita and the PlayStation services on the web.
