Jeremy Clarkson reacts to England Rugby World Cup defeat with rude image: ‘You killed us'

Jeremy Clarkson reacted to the Rugby World Cup final 2019 result on social media today, seemingly not taking England’s loss to South Africa 12-32 well. The Grand Tour host joked about the latter’s captain Siya Kolisi before saying the side had “killed us”.

The 59-year-old shared a rude upload with his 2.5 millions fans on Instagram, which quickly garnered more than 62,000 likes.

The presenter’s picture saw a springbok – a nickname for the SA national rugby team – over the back of an English Bulldog.

He left the caption empty but instantly drew plenty of comments, with many amused despite the result.

Jeremy had initially tweeted in view of his 7.2 million followers: “Go England. But amazed that Khaleesi is playing rugby for South Africa.”

He appeared to be referencing flanker Siya, 28 – who led his side to victory, the country last wining in 2007 – and Game Of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen, also known as Khaleesi and played by Emilia Clarke

12 years ago they once again battered England – four years after they won in Australia – 15-6.

“She will probably field the dragon in the second half. Scary,” Jeremy continued. “And we have May on the wing.”

Following the final whistle, he added: “Congratulations to South Africa. You killed us.”

“Wonderful moment for Siya Kolisi, for the Springboks and for South Africa. Somewhere, Nelson Mandela’a going nuts.”

Richard and Judy’s daughter, 32, went on: “Gutted but proud… Guess we’ll just have another sake and toast our boys.”

Chef James Martin told fans: “Great game plan by South Africa and well played… brilliant England team to get through to the final… what a tournament.”

Ben Shephard said he was “gutted” for England, adding: “South Africa were awesome today and thoroughly deserved the win.”

James Jordan wrote online: “GAME OVER!!! Well done South Africa. England still did us proud but just didn’t have quite enough at the last hurdle #ENGvRSA.”

Anthony Watson’s girlfriend Alyse Miller shared a photo of her partner with the caption: “Proud before. Proud after. Chin Always up.”

Carol Vordermanm who was previously out in Japan supporting Wales, added: “Commiserations to all England fans… You’ve had a great world cup so lots to celebrate… But huge congratulations to South Africa for whom this means the biggest change and coming together of a nation with a terrible history of separation… the happiest of days for them.”

Meanwhile, Oti Mabuse was in tears as she celebrated the World Cup result solo in the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 studio.
