Firework displays 2019: The best spots to watch fireworks in London

Bonfire night is fast approaching, and the city of London is set for plenty of sparkling celebrations. With 5 November falling midweek this year, the coming weekend will see a start to the festivities, with parks and recreation ground across the metropolis hosting an array of family-friendly events. There is something for everyone on both sides of the river, the question is which one will you choose?

Saturday

Morden Park

Start time: 6:30pm

With an early start time, this stunning fireworks show is perfect to take the little ones along to. The display will feature new fire and light acts, Flameoz and Halo, which will serve as appetisers for the main show. When all of the magic is over, attendees can enjoy the funfair or pick up a refreshment at the on-site bar.

Clissold Park, Hackney

Start time: 7:30pm

This 20-minute display is more demure than its London city counterparts due to the animals which live in the park, however, still promises a beautiful show. The reduced noise also makes it ideal for smaller children and is a family-friendly affair. The show will also be accompanied by music.

Tickets: £8.75 adults, children £3.75. Prices reduced by £1 for residents of Hackney Borough

Croydon Road Recreation Ground, Beckenham

Start time: 7:45pm

This family-focused event has been running since 1946 and offers two opportunities to catch the excitement of the fireworks. A smaller display at 6:00pm promises reduced noise, perfect for little children, meanwhile, the main event promises a bang at 7:45pm. Both displays will be set to accompanying music. The grounds will also offer a variety of delicious eats and fairground rides for thrill-seekers.

Ealing Cricket Club

Start time: 7:45pm

Ealing Cricket Club are presenting fireworks with a twist, opting for a showtime theme this year. Promising toe-tapping tunes and a gorgeous view, this family-friendly show is not to be missed for those in the area. The cricket club also boasts an impressive laser display prior to the firework display.

Blackheath Park

Start time: 8:00pm

Short but sweet, this 15-minute display is perfect for those who want more from their bonfire celebrations. The event ground also boasts a funfair open throughout the day, as well as good stalls and bars.

Alexandra palace

Start time: 8:00pm

The biggest firework display in London, having run for 150 years, Alexandra Palace is set to wow audiences again this year with a glittering show. Accompanying music will be put together by BBC Radio 1 and BBC6 Music presenter, Rob Da bank. The grounds will also feature a German Beer festival, fairground, traditional bonfire and an array of food stalls.

Battersea Park

Start time: 8:00pm

The south London display is a popular annual event and is anticipated to bring in around 50,000 people, so tickets could sell fast. The 22-minute display will feature an array of show-stopping fireworks. For those wanting to continue the festivities into the night, there is an official party accompanying the vent at the nearby Evolution London with Norman Jay MBE as the DJ for the night.

Tickets: £10, kids aged under 10 go free with a ticket-holding adult. The after-party is an additional £20 extra, along with a firework display ticket.

Crystal Palace

Start time: 8:30pm

One of the biggest displays in south London, the Crystal Palace event welcomes viewers of all ages to witness a twinkling sky filled with fireworks. The show also boasts lasers and accompanying music for a fully immersive experience. This Hammersmith hotspot is boasting an exciting fireworks display set to wow crowds with some big bangs and stunning views. The fun kicks off at 4pm with a fairground, as well as a host of food stalls and bars. A smaller, kid-focussed display will begin at 6:30pm, followed by the main display at 8:30pm.

Victoria Park
