Diablo Immortal release date: Diablo 4 revealed at BlizzCon 2019 with Immortal update

UPDATE ONE: BlizzCon 2019 didn’t feature any major Diablo Immortal updates but Blizzard did share release date news after the big Opening Ceremony.

Following the official reveal of Diablo 4, Blizzard shared a statement online regarding the mobile game’s development process, without providing any launch details for 2020.

It reads: “We don’t have a release date to announce at this time. It takes significant time to meet the Blizzard quality level we’re aiming for, and we have a lot of ambitious goals for Diablo Immortal. Keep a close eye on Diablo channels for upcoming news and Pre-Register for testing opportunities here.

“Diablo Immortal is planned from the ground up for ongoing content and events. After launch, expect continued support and regular content updates including balance changes, new zones, dungeons, bosses, loot, additional stories, and even new classes.”

ORIGINAL: There’s a good chance that Diablo 4 will be announced at the BlizzCon 2019 Opening Ceremony.

And if that happens, all other Diablo news is going to be thrown into the shade, including anything connected to Diablo Immortal.

Fans were deeply disappointed by the announcement of a mobile game before anything connected with Diablo 4 had been revealed.

But since that happened, nothing much has been heard about Diablo Immortal. Blizzard seem to be sitting on their mobile game but now we’ve reached BlizzCon 2019.

So if the game is being released this year or next, we have to hear something about it today, right? The big news that could be revealed today is a Diablo Immortal beta with a 2019 release date.

Even better would be for something to go live during the show, even with the risks attached with doing that.

Blizzard could also reveal a revamped version of the game, perhaps with a tie-in with a Diablo 4 release.

Or, Blizzard could turn around and say that Blizzard Immortal has been put on ice for the time being, and won’t arrive until after Diablo 4.

Several leaks have appeared online suggesting that the next Diablo game in the main franchise will be announced today.

BlizzCon 2019 is the perfect place to release news about the series, which has been given very little attention during past Blizzard events.

It would make for a welcome return and something that would no doubt bring players back to Diablo 3 for a while.

And it seems certain that fans would prefer to learn about a Diablo 4 release date over the Immortal Mobile game.

The only thing that could prove more popular than both would be the reveal of a fully-fledged Diablo 2 Remake.

Diablo 2 remains the most popular game in the series and a remastered version would probably prove just as popular as WoW Classic.

Here’s more about Diablo Immortal from Blizzard from last year’s event: “The story of Diablo Immortal is set between the events of Diablo® II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo® III.

“The Worldstone lies shattered, yet great power remains within its corrupted fragments. Power that Diablo’s minions hope to harness to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror.

“The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions.

“Fragments of the corrupted Worldstone taint the land, bringing forth ancient evils who are looking to harvest the stone’s power and use it to control humanity.

“From the peaceful town of Wortham, to the jungle island of Bilefen and the ancient Library of Zoltun Kulle, each zone in Diablo Immortal has new challenges to master and familiar faces to see.

“Will you choose to help Valla and her teacher in the Shassar Sea, or delve the tomb of Fahir, an ancient disciple of Akarat?

“Or storm the Countess’ Forgotten Tower and stop her dark reign once more? The possibilities are many. The choices are yours.”
