Star Wars 9: 'Killing Palpatine is not enough, SPOILER will return to destroy him'

That cackle sent chills down the spines of everyone in a galaxy far, far away and the one closer to home. Palpatine, aka Darth Sidious, is back. Which means he actually never really went away. The horrifying implication is that he might also end up even more powerful and dangerous before. Since simply killing him is clearly not enough, there is only one way to ensure the franchise’s arch-villain is destroyed once and for all.

It’s still not clear whether Palpatine somehow physically survived that plunge into the core of the Death Star, or the resulting explosion.

After all, Darth Maul somehow survived being cut in half.

Most, however,  believe Palpatine’s spirit survived and has found a new host or a way to reanimate. Either way, it is bad news for Rey and, as seems increasingly likely, her eventual ally Kylo Ren.

A major and very detailed plot leak outlined the dramatic final scenes of the movie. These set up a spectacular final confrontation which could potentially unite every side of the fan divide.

STAR WARS 9; JJ ABRAMS PROMISES FANS THIS ABOUT LEIA’S ‘DEATH’

WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS FROM HERE.

The leaks describes Palptine draining energy from Kylo and Rey to enable his full resurrection. Kylo Ren finally siding with Rey against the Emperor and is thrown into a pit in a dramatic echo of the fates of both his father, Han Solo, and Palpatine, himself.

Rey seems to be left to battle the Sith Lord alone but Kylo is saved by the Force ghosts of Luke and Anakin and rejoins the battle. But even if they kill Palpatine’s body, his spirit will still be free to return and start the whole saga again.

And that is where it gets thrilling – and fans of the Prequel and Original Sequels will finally see the past paid the respect and honour it is due.

Redditor thebrywalker lays out what needs to happen.

“Emperor in the trailer is Palpatine in a host body of an acolyte, trying to cross back over permanently, needs Kylo and Rey for that.

“They defeat his host body so Anakin and Luke defeat Palpatine in the spirit form. All three generations would have a meaningful victory, no one is slighted. All episodes connect.”

The prospect of a force ghost battle with Luke and his father against Palpatine is truly tantalising.

This also brings together all three generations of Skywalkers to finish their saga – and many believe Rey will then take on the name Skywalker as a form of title or symbol like ‘jedi.’ Hence, not just the previous Skyalkers will rise, but the name itself.
