The Russian Navy’s newest nuclear-powered submarine named “Knyaz Vladimir” has successfully fired a ballistic missile from underwater during a demonstration. The missile travelled from the White Sea where it was launched to Kamchatka. The Defence Minister posted a video of the the launch and its explosive rise to the skies.
The submarine launched an RSM-56 Bulava (Mace) ballistic missile from a submerged position.
The missile successfully reached its target on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east of Russia.
The Knyaz Vladimir joined the Russian Navy in 2017 making it the newest addition to the fleet of the upgraded Borei-class submarines.
The submarine has currently been undergoing sea trials.

Earlier this year in August another Borei-class submarine, Yuri Dologurkiy’ successfully test-fired a Bulava missile.
In August the Navy wanted to test the vessel’s ability to hit mock targets from thousands of kilometres away.
Like the Knyaz Vladimir missile test, the Yuri Dologurkiy also fired from a submerged position.
This demonstration comes after rising tensions between Russia, China and the US over Antarctica.
Fishman also indicates that China may already be breaking international law on Antarctica due to unreported military activity in the region.
Russian President Putin has already secured military power in the region with Voronezh missile radar systems.
Swathes of Russia’s Arctic seas were closed off earlier this month for huge nuclear war games where as many as five submarines, more than 100 aircraft, 200 missile launchers and 12,000 Russian troops took part.
