Granit Xhaka slammed in incredible live TV rant as Arsenal captain called ‘a big baby’

Granit Xhaka is lucky to play for Arsenal and should not have been given the captaincy “in a million years”, claims former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

Xhaka is yet to apologise for his behaviour while being substituted in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday.

Head coach Unai Emery says the Switzerland international is “devastated” but has been asked to say sorry to fans.

Xhaka changed his Instagram profile picture on Tuesday from an image of him playing for Arsenal to one in a Switzerland kit.

Burley has since torn into the 27-year-old live on ESPN FC and claims he should not be part of Emery’s match-day squads going forward.

“What a big baby,” Burley said of Xhaka.

“‘Get my Instagram account changed now’- some of these modern players need cotton wool wrapped around them they’re so soft, seriously.

“He’s never a captain of Arsenal Football Club in a million years.

“He’s lucky to be playing for that club. Captain – my backside.

“I’d strip him of the captaincy and not only that, I’d not have him in the team.

“I’d have [Matteo] Guendouzi and [Lucas] Torreira in the team and I’d ship him out. I’d go and sit him with Mesut Ozil – go and sit on your backside over there and don’t give me anymore problems.

“You don’t need people like that in your team. Self-centred, thin-skinned, don’t have the stomach for when it’s going against you.

“Arsenal don’t need that, Unai Emery doesn’t need that. He needs to sort it himself by the way, he’s a part of this.

“If I’m Unai Emery I’m saying: ‘Do what you want, you’re out the team, out, because one: I don’t need that nonsense and two: you’re not exactly playing like Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira for me anyway, so I might as well go for somebody else. I’ve got other players, on you go, sit in the stand’.”
