Glee reboot: Kevin McHale drops major hint series could return ‘Who knows?’

Former Glee star Kevin McHale has embarked on a number of new ventures since he first appeared in the show ten years ago. His latest will appearance comes courtesy of X Factor: Celebrity, where he is currently starring as one of the programme’s new contestants. However, this has sparked yet more questions of whether he could reappear in a reboot of Glee.

Glee fans will remember Kevin McHale’s character Artie as one of the original cast members of the show, capturing the hearts of viewers in season one of the high school musical.

Fans watched him partake in a number of the group’s performances right up until he graduated McKinley High, with one of the most notable being his solo Dancing with Myself in the season one episode of Wheels.

The episode was a particularly emotional because it was revealed that the reason Artie was in a wheelchair was because he got in a car accident with his mother when he was just eight years old.

Now, a decade later, the Artie actor has opened up about the chances of a reboot.

Speaking to Metro, the star revealed: “We are all friends so we get together all the time and I do get the reboot question a lot and who knows?

“I can’t imagine it and I would be surprised, but if it happened it would need to be something different, where you can do it with a brand new cast.

“And it’s based in a high school and they’re not going anywhere.”

Could there finally be a Glee reboot?

“And Matt Morrison (who played teacher Will Schuester) knew I was taking part, we still talk so we know what each other is up to.

“They also knew how much of a fan of The X Factor I was I have loved the show for years, so they are excited for me.”

Meanwhile, other Glee alumni have been speaking out about the chances of a reboot on Kevin and Tina’s Showmance podcast.

In this episode, the co-hosts had invited Chord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans in the show, and producer Michael Hitchcock.

The producer put the question of a reboot to the former cast members, and Chord also had a positive response.

He said: “I’m not saying no, I’m just saying it’ll probably happen because everything is being rebooted.”

“…I mean I was a choir coach by the end of it so I might still be there.”

The producer went on to reveal many other showrunners seem to be creating their own versions of Glee.

Michael added: “It has to be done right. The thing is that everyone seems to be redoing it anyway. There’s that show coming out about a church choir.”

Glee seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Netflix now.
