Paul Pogba contract

Manchester United have floated a £25million salary to Paul Pogba amid transfer interest from Real Madrid, according to reports.

The France international spent the summer hoping to move to the Bernabeu but, ultimately, the Red Devils were able to maintain the services of the midfielder.

Pogba remains keen on a move away from Manchester United with reports in Spain suggesting his relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed in the months since the summer saga.

Yet The Athletic say United have pitched a £25m annual salary to the World Cup winner in an effort to convince him to stay.

Gareth Bale latest

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane insists there have been no discussions about Gareth Bale leaving in January.

The Wales forward will not feature in the LaLiga match against bottom club Leganes on Wednesday night after he was given permission to travel to England to deal with a personal matter.

Zidane, though, maintains there are no underlying issues with the 30-year-old, who has also struggled with fitness issues since returning from international duty.

“He’s never talked about leaving. If he can train, he trains and if he can play, he plays. In fact, he’s played a lot of games,” the Real Madrid coach said.

“He (Bale) stayed in the summer and it’s better for everyone. He’s here and he’s happy to be here. It’s impossible to lose the desire. I don’t think about offers coming in.”

Eden Hazard confession

Eden Hazard has revealed that he spoke with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez a year before he secured a move to the Bernabeu from Chelsea.

Chelsea had already prepared themselves to lose Hazard this past summer, with Real agreeing an initial fee worth £89million which could rise to £150m with add-ons.

And the Belgium international revealed it was after the 2018 World Cup when he was told by Florentino Perez that they would be trying to sign him.

“When he finished the World Cup in Russia I wanted to go to Madrid, I had already made the decision,” Hazard said. “I spoke to Florentino and told me that I expected in Madrid.

“After I spoke with Luka Modric and felt that everyone wanted me see at Real Madrid. And finally fulfilled.”
