Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson confirms UFC 244 appearance to put belt on Diaz or Masvidal

WWE legend The Rock has confirmed that he will be appearing at UFC 244 to award the BMF title belt to the winner of the fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made the announcement during a live session on Instagram along with UFC President Dana White and even teased a special announcement which he plans to make during this Friday’s press conference in New York.

Johnson will share some exciting news he “wanted to tell the UFC fans and MMA community first” ahead of his scheduled appearance on November 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The Rock said: “I’ve got an announcement for the press conference this Friday.

“It’s something I wanted to tell the fans and the MMA community first.”

The title belt has been specially commissioned for the upcoming UFC 244 fight and will be unveiled during the press conference.

The Rock praised Diaz as well as Masvidal and can’t wait to see a good fight between them.

The professional wrestler-turned-actor added: “I learned a long time ago in terms of combat sports, in boxing and in MMA, especially at this level with two guys who are so skilled and respected in Masvidal and Diaz, that I just want a good fight.

“Everyone’s got a puncher’s chance.

“I’m such a fan of MMA that I have too much respect for the guys and girls who put it all on the line to say who’s going to win.

“I just want to see a great fight, the addition of the BMF belt is brilliant, it’s so smart and it’s fun; it’s fun for the fighters, it gives them some juice to go out there and Madison Square Garden is the perfect place for this fight; that place is going to be rocking and I can’t wait to get in there.

“Both of these guys have been around the game for a long time… with Diaz, you’re not going to knock him out and you’re not going to submit him – he’d rather die before he submits.

“And Masvidal’s legend is legit, that is a bad dude coming out of south Florida.”

The Rock’s most recent WWE appearance took place during SmackDown’s debut episode on FOX where he teamed up with RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and took out Baron Corbin.
