Celtic tipped to let Odsonne Edouard leave Parkhead for as little as £20m next summer

Odsonne Edouard has been backed to leave Celtic next summer for a fee as small as £20million.

The France youth international has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Hoops so far this season, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that although a transfer away from Glasgow is likely, that doesn’t mean Neil Lennon’s side will attract a massive fee.

He told BonusCodeBets: ”Edouard’s a good young player, and as much as players might like playing for clubs like Celtic or Rangers, for their career they will want to move on.

“Celtic will be open to sell for £20million to £30m.

“With the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Moussa Dembele staying at Celtic for a short while before moving on to bigger clubs, Edouard be given a similar opportunity next summer.”

Lennon has stood firm over the future of his star striker several times over the past few months, with the latest update coming last week.

“Look, there is going to be constant speculation regarding Odsonne if he continues in the form that he is, we cannot stop the speculation,” he said.

“However, he is very happy here and we are very happy with him.

“But we cannot stop the progress, obviously, there will be a lot of interest from a lot of the big teams and that will be a decision the club will have to make alongside his representatives.

“He’s in fantastic form for us.

“He’s happy, he’s been patient, he’s improving his game all the time.”

Kenny Dalglish has also given his thoughts over Edouard’s future, and urged Lennon not to panic about losing him.

He told the Sunday Post: “I’d urge him not to lose any sleep over the situation. There will be scouts monitoring the former PSG striker. That’s only to be expected.

“Edouard has been in good form for Celtic in the past 18 months, and has really burst into life in the past year for the France Under-21 side, scoring some impressive goals.

“Clubs from bigger leagues would not be doing their jobs properly if Edouard was not on their radar – but that doesn’t mean to say the current interest will lead to concrete bids.”
