Catherine Tyldesley: 'Changed my life' Strictly star in tearful admission after shock exit

Catherine Tyldesley, 36, became the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2019 after the judges voted to save Mike Bushell and Katya Jones in the dance-off. The Coronation Street star and her partner Johannes Radebe made a surprising exit from the competition after impressing the panel with their routines in previous weeks. The couple danced the Cha Cha Cha in Halloween Week and received a total of 24 points out of a possible 40. Judge Craig Revel Horwood criticised Catherine’s footwork on Saturday night by commenting: “The upper half was absolutely brilliant, the lower half was terrible.”

Opening up about her exit from the competition, Catherine gushed about her professional dance partner Johannes.

She tearfully told host Tess Daly: “Him, yeah, he’s like my best friend.

“He’s just…oooh, (in reference to her eye make-up) it’s waterproof…just the opportunity to work with amazing people and get critiqued off amazing people.”

The actress then insisted she was going to keep dancing and praised Johannes for “changing her life”.

She added: “I never thought I’d say this, I’m going to keep it up because I fell in love with it!

“I’ve loved every second, this man has changed my life!”

The star uploaded a video of herself alongside Johannes as they reflected on their dance.

Catherine said: “Thank you for all your messages so far r.e. the Cha Cha Cha.”

She exclaimed: “That’s done, that was the hardest week of my life babe.”

The South African dancer agreed and stated no one knows how much work Catherine put in to executing the routine.

“You know what, I’m once again very, very happy, babe,” he said. “People don’t know what you put behind this.”

Johannes continued: “I’m not going to go into it, I just want to say well done and obviously I just feel like… we have had it hard.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues next week at 7pm on BBC One.
