Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen would have killed Jon Snow – here's why

Game of Thrones may have come to a dramatic conclusion earlier this year but fans are still theorising what could have happened in the series if different avenues were explored with their favourite characters. One shocking twist that left HBO viewers in uproar was Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) transformation into the Mad Queen and her subsequent death at the hands of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington).

However one fan has suggested that regardless of their love for each other Daenerys was in fact destined to kill Jon.

Viewers will remember Daenerys wanted to secure her position as Queen and one fan has implied this means she would have eventually killed Jon.

Reddit user Shady_maniac began: “So I’m reading the series for the first time and caught this in a Danaerys chapter in Clash of Kings.

“Viserys, was her first thought the next time she paused, but a second glance told her otherwise.

“The man had her brother’s hair, but he was taller, and his eyes were a dark indigo rather than lilac.

“‘Aegon,’ he said to a woman nursing a newborn babe in a great wooden bed.

“’What better name for a king? Will you make a song for him?’ the woman asked. ‘He has a song,’ the man replied. ‘He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.’”

“Could this be referring to Jon Snow?” the user questioned.

Reddit user Alivealive0 answered: “No. This refers to Aegon, Rhaegar’s first son, second child, who died at the hands of Gregor Clegane. The mother is Elia Martell.”

The fan posted a second passage from Clash of Kings which they think refers to Jon.

They wrote: “‘He has a song,’ the man replied. ‘He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.’

“He looked up when he said it and his eyes met Dany’s, and it seemed as if he saw her standing there beyond the door.

“‘There must be one more,’ he said, though whether he was speaking to her or the woman in the bed she could not say.”
