Swansea furious as Emiliano Sala 'boarding passes' mocking star's death made

Swansea City have condemned the horrifying pictures mocking the death of Emiliano Sala, which have surfaced online.

An image circulated of a mocked-up boarding pass on social media ahead of Cardiff’s clash with Swansea this weekend.

Sala transferred from Nantes to Cardiff in January but on his flight back to Wales, the plane carrying himself and pilot David Ibbotson crashed into the English Channel, killing both.

On the image which has been shared, the words ’Sala, Emiliano’ are visible, alongside a ‘flight number’, ‘D3AD’.

The name Mikey Dye, a Cardiff fan who passed away in 2011, is also visible on the image.

’Swansea City Airlines’ can also be seen on the ticket, but it isn’t known who made the image.

Swansea have spoken out on the situation, voicing their dismay.

“We are aware of the disgraceful images and are currently investigating who and where they originated from,” he said.

“They are shameful and do not represent this football club or our supporters in any way.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any discriminatory, unacceptable or anti-social behaviour, and this will be enforced rigorously before, during and after Sunday’s South Wales derby.

“Any supporters displaying this type of material or behaving in a manner that is unacceptable will face criminal proceedings.

“The club will be strongly supporting the Police in any public order or hate crime prosecutions surrounding these images and any related incidents during Sunday’s fixture.”

The South Wales derby takes place on Sunday at the Liberty Stadium.
