Filmmaker Madhu Mantena also spoke out about the film being told through the Draupadi’s narrative, saying: “While we have all consumed the Mahabharata all our lives, the uniqueness of our film is seeing the same story form the point of view of Draupadi, who is one of the most significant heroines in our country’s cultural history.”
He also praised Padukone, saying: “Deepika is not just the biggest Indian actress today but someone who can take this narrative across borders.
“If it weren’t with her, we would not be making this film on such an ambitious scale.”
According to NDTV, the new movie will be divided into several parts, with the first rumoured for release in Diwali 2021.
Padukone and Mantena are currently in talks with filmmakers and actors regarding joining the cast and crew on the upcoming Mahabharata movies.
The actress is currentlyone of the most sought-after talents in Bollywood and has a number of big films on the horizon.
