Asteroid news: NASA tracks a swarm of four large rocks flying past Earth up to 31,000mph

Asteroid 2019 UO5

The first asteroid to approach Earth on Saturday is Asteroid 2019 UO5.

NASA was first made aware of the space rock on October 19 this year.

The space agency estimates the asteroid measures in the range of 65.6ft to 147.6ft (20m to 45m) across.

Tomorrow, the asteroid will make its approach around 7.25am BST (6.25am UTC).

According to NASA’s orbital calculations, the asteroid will fly by at speeds of around 10.54km per second or 23,577mph (37,944kph).

At its closest, Asteroid UO5 will approach Earth from a distance of 4.5 million miles (7.38 million km).
